About Divide
There had to be a better way to begin.
Divide gives separating people a private, organised place to record the belongings and financial information that matter, make their own choices, and understand what matches and what still needs discussion or professional input.
It was created to replace back-and-forth messages, difficult conversations and awkward spreadsheets with one calm, shared place to begin.
I built the thing I wish had existed.
I have been through separation twice. I know how quickly ordinary belongings, incomplete information and practical questions can become long conversations, repeated emails and expensive professional time.
In my first separation, what mattered most to me was the camping gear. In another, a spreadsheet intended to create clarity became one more overwhelming thing to manage.
My background in interiors, professional organising and relocation taught me that belongings are rarely just things. They can carry memory, identity, responsibility and emotion. But they still need to be recorded and worked through.
Divide began with a simple question:
What if each person could work through the same information privately, then see where they already agree before taking the rest any further?
This is the answer I built.

It does not decide who should receive something, determine legal ownership or replace professional advice. The people involved, and where necessary their lawyers, accountants or mediators, make those decisions.
Divide simply makes it easier to understand what each person wants, where choices match and what still needs attention.

Start with what you know
There is no long intake questionnaire and no compulsory document upload. Exact addresses are not required to begin. A property can simply be recorded as “Richmond home” or “Holiday house”, with more detail added if and when it becomes useful.
Sometimes getting started is the hardest part because it is easy to become lost in the details.
Work privately within one shared case
Both participants can add belongings and financial information to the same shared case, while each person records their choices privately. One person cannot see the other person’s choices while either of them is still working.
See the position clearly
When both people have completed and confirmed their choices, Divide shows what you want, what the other person wants, what matches and what still needs discussion.
Bring in professional support when it helps
Lawyers, accountants and mediators can be invited with access designed for their role, so professional time can begin with clearer, more organised information.
